Week 1 Assignment – What Is Your Own Culture?

Prompt
Your assignment this week is to write about yourself. What makes you unique? Use the results from the test in the background information to reflect on what you have learned about yourself. Be sure to note your results from the test as you will use it to create your week 1 assignment. You will organize your paper into four parts as described below.
Part 1: Describe your own culture. What influences who you are? Consider writing about your family, celebrations, religion, country of origin, race, income level, favorite things to do/see/eat/read/watch, what you do when you’re alone, what you love about the people around you, and so on. However, you do not need to disclose anything that would make you feel uncomfortable.
Part 2: Click here to go to the CQ Test. (Links to an external site.) This test speaks to your cultural quotient or how you relate to people of different cultures. Reflect on what the results from this test say about you. Specifically, explain how you can use this information in your workplace.
Part 3: Click here to go to The Implicit Association Test (Links to an external site.). (Links to an external site.) This test can reveal your personal biases. Reflect on what the results from this test say about you. Specifically, explain how you can use this information in your workplace.
Part 4: Write about what you learned from this assignment. Consider whether you were surprised by any of the results. Be sure to include any actions you want to take in the areas of cultural intelligence and biases.
These four parts of this assignment should be compiled in a Word document. The two surveys are your sources, so you should cite them. In all, your responses should be at least 500 words long. You will be graded on your ability to communicate your reflections in each of the four parts.
